Meet the Team

Scott Perkins

Director/General Manager

As General Manager of Livestock Exchange, Scott Perkins is responsible for the management of the day-to-day running of the business. He oversees many agents throughout New Zealand buying and selling livestock and has a specific strength in dairy stock management.

Scott’s hands-on approach enables him to be out in the field where he can assess first-hand how the market is moving. Scott considers this to be the foundation for providing solutions compatible with client requirements and ultimately giving clients the best return for their investment.

Prior to forming Livestock Exchange with David Topham, Scott worked in the family business for ten years selling North American dairy genetics. This experience, along with the family tradition of farming, has placed him in good stead for a sound career in the livestock industry.

David Topham

Director/ Dairy Specialist

Growing up on a mixed cropping farm in Aylesbury close to Kirwee in Central Canterbury set the scene for David for a career in the livestock industry.

David started his career as a store boy and stock clerk for a stock and station firm in Darfield and Christchurch and then moved on the road as a stock agent in Oxford and Darfield.

During the late 90's he moved into selling North American genetics to the dairy industry and it was during this time that he and Scott Perkins became involved in selling livestock.

In 2002, together with Scott, he formed Livestock Exchange Ltd to address the lack of dairy knowledge in the stock firms when dealing with herds and young stock.

David's background, experience and dedication to his clients, is one of the reasons for Livestock Exchange's growing client base.

Marcus Illingworth

Dairy Specialist

Marcus grew up on his parents farm in Oxford and for the last 10 years has managed a 600ha intensive mixed farming operation in North Canterbury. Throughout this time, he has gained a lot of general knowledge in growing dairy replacement stock and fattening bull beef and he knows the importance of young stock growth.
